might be a 3rd axis imbalance issue; DEC spikes come from that many times

if you have an EAF, or also, an EFW not up or down relative to zero position, then that can be causing the imbalance and the spikes

also, try to have the least amount of cables possible hanging off any particular side; I keep my most essential cables lifted up against gravity (slackened) with zip ties so that, if they ever pull down any axis a little, it is less than if they were hanging with no slack, and I keep all the other cables bunched up together only at the very top of the telescope

I fear a –large amount– of people (not all people) are simply getting imbalance problems and are tearing apart their non-harmonic mounts when they don't need to
