I've been imaging with the ASI2600MC for over 2 years and am thinking of moving to the same camera in mono.
I have a 130mm refractor at a dark site and will require, I think, a filter wheel with 8 positions:  LRGB, SHO and a dark filter for shooting darks.

But I think the 2600 works best with 2" threaded filters, which is what I use now.  Does anybody make an 8 position filter wheel for 2" filters?

Thanks,
Jerry

The IMX571 doesn't need darks, and you can use a flat panel for flats/dark-flats - so a 7x EFW would likely work fine …

(Also the 2600 works just fine with 36mm filters if you want to save some money)

if you shoot from a very dark site you dont have to use  filters. people often attack me when I say this but its completely true.

I shoot every night from Bortle 1,  and i never use filters at all, except for the UV/IR cut inside the 2600MC camera.

I have no problems shooting anything at all, EXCEPT for when the moon is up.

I dont image when the moon is up, and this gives me some rest each month, which is good.

I would rather buy a flip-flat that also acts as a cover for your scope. You can save on the filter wheel buying a standard 7 position (either 36mm or 2") and then have something to take flats consistently and to cover your scope while not using it (and close the aperture to take darks).

Hi David,

That's because you're using an OSC camera, the same one I've been using for 2 years.   Mono is a totally different situation, filters are necessary if you want to shoot in color, it doesn't matter whether you're under a Bortle 1 or Bortle 7 sky...

Hi Jerry. I did not realise that you had bought the mono camera. I thought you were just thinking about it.

sure thing, if you have the mono camera then you will need filters.

Yes, I bought it a few weeks ago and shipped it off today to the dark sky site observatory.
