Someone recently posted some really nice work flow charts with beginning to end processes including the Russell Croman suite, but now I can't seem to find them. If someone has the link, please forward.

Thanks,

John

If you're interested in workflow charts, I publish the full workflow for each image taken on my website. So feel free to check it out and let me know how it can be improved.

Willem, I appreciate the detail with which you describe your process. Very nice images, too!

That is a good site for general guidance but note that the author says:

"I don’t write tutorials with precise settings on process and scripts because it completely depends of the image quality (or subject) and I want users make effort to understand what they are doing and how works process and scripts. "

A good caveat, IMHO, but I would go further and say that I probably have never processed two images in exactly the same way in 30 years.

Learning the concepts and processes and how they work and what they can (and cannot) do is the critical part. That allows one to decide just what to do next with an individual image as you proceed thru processing it. It becomes a kind of mental "flow" as you conceptualize how to deal with each aspect of the image and data as you proceed with processing and that "flow" is based on your knowledge of the processes and your experience with them.

It can get complicated and I find it very common to not even recall every one of the often several dozen or more steps in the processing of an individual image by the time I complete the image!  I could write that down but since the next image will again be different, there is more to be gained by learning the nature of each software and function than to use any kind of specific workflow except as an exceedingly general guide.
