GradientMergeMosaic won't work unless you clean up A LOT the source images.

Funnily enough, I didn't ask for your opinion.

Any chance you can recommend a link to a good tutorial on creating mosaics via Nina, siril and gimp/other open source stuff?

I don't recall SIRIL having any tools for mosaics but IRIS does but then you'd have in 16-bit space which is awkward. I don't use GIMP other that for very mundane tasks so I can't help there either. Sorry…
